It’s Different Here

I’ve heard that a lot lately. In fact, I’ve heard it all across the Southeast, in every corner of our business.  If you drill down into what that comment really means, however, you discover something “different” altogether.  In fact, the more things are declared different, in reality the more they are the same.

Sure, regions differ, properties differ and environmental conditions differ. We’re expected to adapt to those factors, which we do daily. But to leave it there is to miss the Big Picture: at the heart of it all, we serve people.  Those people are also called Customers. If done well, the art of serving Customers is the same everywhere.  It depends upon:

  • Listening
  • Understanding
  • Adapting
  • Delivering

It’s up to us to meet Customers where they’re at and to respond appropriately based upon that. Success depends upon it. Said another way, it all comes down to showing respect and expressing genuine concern. The desire for that is the same everywhere.
