Team

January 21, 2016
It’s the single most important aspect of any successful enterprise, yet the most difficult to measure. The quality of your team will define the path, and the pace, of your growth.

Today I heard an African Proverb, shared in the most unlikely of situations:

“If you want to go fast, go alone.  If you want to go far, go together.”

So, just how far and how fast can you run alone?  And what might you do when you get there, tired and thirsty?

The Team is what enables you to divide the work, share the load, and move steadily forward.  I can list countless examples, but if you’ll envision a flock of geese in flight, you’ll know what I mean.

There are individuals and there are local teams, but then there is also a Team of Teams.  When talented members of dispersed teams come together and actively share with one another, everyone grows and the organization wins. It’s what we call Teamwork!

This is the time of year when various teams come together across businesses and share plans, goals and aspirations.  The energy that this generates can be massive and collective, or it can be dispersed and quickly dissipated.  It is the Team that can internalize it and channel it as fuel for growth.

If you want to be happier and more successful, join a team. But then do your part to make it better. Enjoy the Journey!

So true Bill!! As an avid sports fan, one of my favorite team proverbs is…….
“Losers assemble in small groups and complain about the coaches and other players. Winners assemble as a TEAM and find ways to win!”

You take that approach with your Team daily! I’ve heard ‘all-in’ multiple times in recent days!

What a good read; furthermore, what truth. I believe in teamwork.
Just as it takes your arm to make your fingers work properly, so does it take each other to get a job or task well done, grow better, become stronger and become successful. Thanks for this post!

You are so right; every part must contribute for the whole to work as intended. Thank for joining the conversation!

      Bill
