Yesterday was one of those exceptional days that illustrates why leading a business is such great fun. Our Tampa Branch was gathering for a celebratory luncheon to recognize and reward remarkable safety results they’ve achieved over the past year, but I got to witness “why” and “how” those results have been achieved.  In a nutshell, it’s because the people working here believe that:
  • Together
  • Everyone
  • Achieves
  • More
These managers care personally about their team members and one another.  They realize that when you take care of one another, you’re taking care of those who in turn will take care of your customers.  It’s a virtuous circle.

The conversation extended well beyond the celebration of the moment, into how they can leverage success as a TEAM in one area to achieve stronger performance in other critical aspects of the business.  Their engagement was palpable and the ideas were flowing.

I found it fascinating that the discussion extended beyond implementing documented business practices that will yield stronger results. This group was actively focused on how to identify, mentor and develop those team members on their service crews who have the ability and desire to grow, move up, and do more.  They realize that everything we accomplish is through others.

Hands and feet may do the work, but it is hearts and minds that give it meaning.  And that’s what makes this business journey worthwhile!

The Tampa branch has great people from the management to the service workers. I have met a lot of them and Brett has the pulse of his workers and is one of those people that when you come in contact with him it is positive and encouraging. I have never missed any boss that i have worked for in the past but i do miss Brett and that should speak volumes about who and what kind of man he is.

  • Great job T.E.A.M. Tampa! Proud of you guys, keep it up.
