When It’s Time

You must be ready.  You can’t start to strategize and plan when it’s already time for action.  At the decision point, you must be ready to make a move.

Many things in life can be anticipated; most cannot. Unless you’re always considering the possibilities ahead, it’s difficult to be ready to make the optimum decision when it’s time. Some might say there’s no way to know what’s ahead, so why worry?  Others think that, because there’s no way to know exactly what’s ahead, it’s best to plan for various scenarios.  I prefer the latter approach.

Often an “opportunity” arises directly as a result of planning, of thinking ahead.  Foresight turns opportunity into good fortune. Our lives can follow so many winding paths that it’s impossible to contemplate them all. I’m not suggesting that we should. Rather, by being aware of what’s happening around us we can prepare for what’s ahead; we can be ready for our moment when it’s time.

Rarely does good fortune come and find you. Mostly it develops from being engaged, from working diligently, and from pursuing things that matter.  The luckiest people tend to be the purposeful ones, those who are ready when it’s time.

We all have free will and are fortunate to live in a country that is based upon personal freedom. That freedom isn’t a guarantee; it’s an invitation to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Note that “pursuit” is an action word; it’s up to each of us to unwrap the value that each day offers. And it’s up to us to be ready to act when it’s time.

Enjoy the Journey!
